We have received multiple reports of a male passenger, 21, jumping overboard on March 9, 2016, from Norwegian Cruise Lines’ Norwegian Getaway. A “friend” allegedly reported the intoxicated passenger jumped off deck 18 and landed on a deck five balcony.

Unconfirmed details include the man was apparently on the cruise with his girlfriend. The woman reportedly got a call that her grand-father had passed away while on the cruise and told her boyfriend she wanted to be alone. The male passenger went to a bar on the ship, got drunk and came back to their cabin.

A loud argument allegedly took place in their cabin and security was called by other passengers. The man ran from his cabin, reportedly in his underwear, was chased by security and cornered on deck 18, where he jumped overboard.

Initally, it was thought he went into the sea and a life ring was tossed into the water. However, it turned into a medical emergency when he was found on a lower deck balcony.

One visitor’s tip confirmed the incident took place as other visitors reported and gave us this photo of the unknown man, saying there was an online post with the photo which said the man had a head injury during an accident years prior and had some “issues” as a result.

The girlfriend, reportedly remained on the cruise until Norwegian Getaway returned to Miami.

Norwegian Getaway embarked March 6, 2016 from Miami, Florida for a 7-Day Western Caribbean cruise with calls at Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas, Ocho Rios, Jamaica, George Town, Cayman Islands and Cozumel, Mexico before arriving back to Miami at 0800 hours on Sunday March 13.
