Alaskan Dream Cruises' Admiralty Dream Captain Kenneth Adams, 47, from San Diego, California, who was originally from Affton, Missouri, was found dead in his cruise ship cabin on Monday, July 4, 2016 about 0546 hours.

The cruise ship was in the Chatham Strait headed for Pavlof Harbor for a day excursion, scheduled to arrive at 6:30 a.m. when Captain Adams was found unresponsive in his cabin and attempts to revive him failed. The crew notified authorities. Admiralty Dream made a detour to Angoon and anchored near the Angoon Ferry Terminal and Whaler’s Cove Lodge, 57 miles south of Juneau.

Alaskan Dream Cruises specializes in small ship cruising and operates five cruise ships Admiralty Dream, Alaskan Dream, Baranof Dream, Chichagof Dream and Misty Fjord. They offer free excursions in every port of call.

Alaskan Dream Cruises' Admiralty Dream is based in Sitka Alaska. The cruise ship takes 58 passengers on 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 day cruises within Alaska. The Alaskan Dream Cruises website says, "Alaskan Dream Cruises is authorized by Special Use Permit to provide Guiding & Outfitting services in the Tongass National Forest. Alaskan Dream Cruises is an equal opportunity employer and service provider.is authorized by Special Use Permit to provide Guiding & Outfitting services in the Tongass National Forest."

Jamey Cagle, the vice president of Allen Marine, which owns Alaskan Dream Cruises, says Adams worked for the company for four years, had a passion for his career and was well respected.

On the Captain's Blog an appropriate post was made nearly a year ago, "As I greet newly arriving guests ready for an Alaskan adventure aboard the Admiralty Dream, I’m reminded of the saying: “Every great journey begins with that first step.” But in Alaska that “first step” may just begin with a flap of a wing, the flick of a tail, the falling of a water droplet or, as is the case with our guests, the walk up the gangway. For, as one looks around, journeys are at the heart and soul of every Alaskan experience."

An autopsy is planned in Anchorage.
