Woman Severly Injured In Heavy Seas Wave Crash

The British Cruise Ship Marco Polo was passing through the English Channel during rough seas, around 2:00 pm on day 40 of a 42 day tour. When a rogue wave hit the cruise ship and crashed through a restaurant window as they were dining. The injured woman in her 70s and the man 79, were airlifted to shore for medical assistance where the man later died. Other Passengers suffered only minor injuries from the incident.
The Marco Polo 42 Night Round-Trip Transatlantic tour - Left from England on January 5 and on to to South America/Brazil Amazon, a visit Amsterdam, Lisbon, Madeira, Cape Verde, Santarem, Boca da Valeria, Manaus, Parintins, Santarem, Almeirim and Macapa. Then to French Guiana by end of January and Grenada on Feb 1, onto St Vincent, St Lucia, Barbados and the Transatlantic crossing to Azores on to Tilbury where the incident occurred.
