What happens to the body when a passenger dies during a cruise?
Elmore Francis Snider, 84, from Mineral Wells, Texas was aboard Carnival Cruise Lines Carnival Triumph on Thursday December 3, 2015 for a bucket list cruise with his wife Elaine Snider when he peacefully passed away in his sleep.
Snider, boarded Carnival Triumph in Galveston Texas on November 30 for a 6-day cruise Caribbean cruise.
Carnival Triumph called at Cozumel, Mexico and Progresso, Mexico in the Yucatan peninsula before returning back to Galveston, Texas.
The cruise ship kept his body aboard until the cruise ship returned to Galveston at 4 pm on December 5.
Once in Galveston, the body was removed as "hazardous material" cargo and labeled "MADE IN USA, VALUE $1".
Snider was owner of Snider Drywall in Mineral Wells, which he worked together with his sons David Elmore and Jonathan Snider.
