Pasquale Pat Cantone, 68, from West Babylon, New York was a passenger aboard Celebrity Cruises ship Horizon where he contracted Legionella and died after returning home to Long Island on Friday, July 9, 1994.
Autopsy test results confirmed, Pasquale Cantone, had been infected with the bacteria that causes Legionnaires’ disease, said Kristine Smith, a spokeswoman for the New York State Health Department.
There were nine cases in New Jersey and one on Staten Island. The C.D.C. is also investigating 25 suspected cases of the disease.
