Time of Cruise Ship Death

Grant Medeiros, 14, from Saanich, British Columbia Canada was on Princess Cruises’ Regal Princess on Friday, February 17, 1995 along with his brother Michael and parents Gail and Octavio Medeiros. When his parents started a search for him, they found his sneakers and eyeglasses on the deck. He was missing.

Nobody saw Grant jump overboard, but he had threatened to do so after an arguement with his parents. His parents found a note along with necklace and a cruicifix.

At the time of the incident, it was around 2000 hours with Regal Princess about 12 miles off the coast of Ft. Launderdale, Florida, having returned from a week-long Caribbean cruise.

The United States Coast Guard searched a 170-mile square section of the ocean until 0300 hours in the morning without success.

However, a life ring from the Regal Princess was later found in Boca Raton, Florida.

The FBI investigated the case.
