When the ship arrived in Honolulu, her bed was still made and her luggage, purse, money and identification were in her cabin. Her passport was not found among her effects.
Mia’s passport was not found. This would indicate either her passport was stolen by somebody aboard after she disappeared or she took the passport and decided to hide, leaving her luggage and belongings behind.
Mia McDonald was an Oahu resident in 1992 or 1993 before she moved to Las Vegas.
In Las Vegas, she had lived at 2263 Sierra Stone Lane, Las Vegas, until she sold the home on October 2, 1996, several years after arriving from Hawaii. Her maiden name was Mia Yokoyama, she was of Japanese descent.
After trying to locate McDonald at her Las Vegas address by mail, unsuccessfully for eight days, she was reported missing on February 17, 2001.
