Time of Cruise Ship DeathKristine Anne Cruz

Kristine Anne Cruz, 30, worked as a crew member aboard Celebrity Cruises’ cruise ship Summit on December 24, 2011 when she went missing while Celebrity Summit was near Puerto Rico.

Cruz, who worked as a bartender aboard Celebrity Summit, was aboard with her husband who also worked for the cruise line and was employed aboard Summit. The couple from the Philippines had one child.

The missing bartender had worked aboard cruise ships for approximately 10 years and was called, “bubbly, positive and God fearing” by her sister who is asking for information from anyone who knew Kristine Anne Cruz and/or has information about her disappearance.

The family doesn’t accept the current report on the missing crew member that doesn’t name her or any specifics about her, yet characterize her as a “jumper” as reported by media and other online blogs quick to judge the circumstances of Cruz’s disappearance.

Specific information from the family states, “They were planning (and often informing us this desire) that this will be her last contract and she will stay for good in the Philippines to take care of her son. Last time she called to us was on December 23, 2011 and promised to call again on December 24 (birthday of our grandma) and December 25 (for Christmas) but unfortunately the incident happened. As per my brother in law, the day before the incident, they were enjoying buying gifts, shopping and dreaming for the future.”

The family says they don’t believe the incident was a suicide, “She encountered a lot of difficulties before and never thought of ending her life. I must know because she is a very open person. Our family wishes that the investigation will be fair and transparent. And above all, we pray that we will be able to locate her alive. We are positive that she is still alive and would want to be listed in the missing list.” overboard.
