Mylène Litzler, 23, from Val d’Oise, France died aboard Carnival Corp’s, Costa Cruises’ Costa Concordia when the cruise ship grounded off the coast of Giglio, Italy on Friday the 13, January 13, 2012.

Mylène Litzler was on the cruise with her boyfriend, Mickaël Blemand. They were together alive at 23:15 hours, the last anyone knew their where abouts of the pair. Lizler’s father received a text message telling him the pair were evacuating. Initially, the pair were reported as survivors, but haven’t been seen since they put on their lifevests.

The captain of Concordia (Francesco Schettino) took the cruise ship too close to shore, it grounded on a reef, ripping a massive hole in the hull of the ship, leaving a huge rock embedded in the hull. Lower compartments began to flood, causing the ship to list severely.
