August 4, 2014 – Rich Ceisler, 58, from Wakefield, Massachusetts, who worked as a comedian, took ill on a Royal Caribbean Cruise Line cruise ship off Haiti on July 23, 2014, where he was booked for a performance. He was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Santiago, Dominican Republic, where he died nearly two weeks later. Ceisler had been diagnosed previously with Guillain-Barre syndrome.
He was an “ambassador of comedy,” said his longtime manager, Dee Mura. “He was one of the most well-traveled comedians. He loved going places, and the more exotic they were, the more he liked them. His energy was amazing. He just had a marvelous sense of life and adventure.”
