Katy Rourke, Murdered Cruise Ship Crew Member, Australia – December 30, 2015, Time of Death 12:00-5:00.
Katy Rourke, 25, from Broughty Ferry, Dundee, worked as a crew member aboard P & O Cruises Australia ships. Officers were called to an address on Minto Street in Glasgow at 5 pm on Wednesday December 30, 2015, and police have begun a murder investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Allan Burton said: ‘Officers have been conducting door-to-door inquiries and we are gathering and reviewing CCTV footage to gain additional information as part of this ongoing investigation.
The autopsy on her body confirmed she died as a result of foul play.
Gary Stevenson, 26, from Cumbernauld, which is near Glasgow, Scotland, has been arrested in connection with her murder. Stevenson appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Saturday, January 2, 2016, to answer to the charges.
Police say in the court complaint, Gary Stevenson held Katy Rourke hostage in a locked apartment (flat) as he demanded sex from her and when she refused to engage in sex with him, Stevenson repeatedly slashed her with a knife and ultimately stabbed her to death.
Rourke’s parents, Phil, 55, and Dawn, 54, have been devastated by the news of their daughter’s horrific death.
