Thomas Bouchier Armstrong, Jr., 69, a pharmacist from Spartanburg, South Carolina was sailing aboard Carnival Cruise Lines’ Carnival Valor with his wife LeRhea on Friday, February 5, 2016 when he suddenly died.
Armstrong had Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. He spent the last 30 years as a pharmacist at Smith’s Drugs #2 in Spartanburg.
Active in the South Carolina state dance, Shag, Tom was active in the shag world always promoting shag dancing. He was a 29 year member and two-time past president of the R&B Shag Club of Spartanburg.
From the R&B Shag Club website, “We are all shocked and saddened by the sudden death of our friend, Tom Armstrong. All who knew him, know how he loved shagging and shaggers. He was truly an Icon to the shag world. The countless things he did for our club will always be appreciated and remembered. We have big shoes to fill. I will be asking many of you to step up.
