James Robert Benson, 68, from Bloomington, Illinois died on Sunday, April 10, 2016, aboard a cruise ship docked at Fort Lauderdale, Florida from natural causes as an eventual result of childhood polio.
Four cruise ships were docked at Fort Lauderdale, Florida on April 10, 2016, Navigator of the Seas, Nieuw Amsterdam, Allure of the Seas, Celebrity Silhouette and Regal Princess.
Benson was a certified lifeguard and licensed private pilot. He completed his law degree at the University of Illinois and went onto become Ford County state attorney for 11 years and later as an appellate attorney on the Illinois Appellate Prosecutor’s staff.
