David Greene, 62 from Glen Burnie, Maryland was a notable cruise industry cruise director who died on Saturday, December 30, 2017

David secured a job with Seabourn Cruise Lines as a production vocalist on the PSL (see video below) (Pride, Spirit and Legend) fleet. At Seabourn, David progressed from the position of vocalist to Assistant Cruise Director to Cruise Director and was often seen aboard Seabourn Pride. He worked for Seabourn for more than twenty years before the discovery of his illness in February 2017.

Richard D. Meadows CEO President and CEO of Seabourn Cruise Lines had this to say upon learning of David’s passing, ” David was a legend in our industry and was well loved by crew and Club members alike. Not only was he an exceptional Cruise Director, he was also an extremely talented performer, entertaining our guests on countless cruises with his iconic Nat King Cole tribute. David was the epitome of what makes Seabourn stand out; our dedicated and engaging crew. His smile, warmth and amazing sense of humor made him the ultimate host to the thousands of guests that were fortunate enough to have sailed with him. The indelible mark he left on many of us will continue his legacy as the consummate host and showman for years to come.”

During the summer months while a student at Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music located in Winchester, Virginia, David worked as a performer at Opry Land in Nashville, Tennessee and Kings Dominion, Virginia. Upon earning his B.S. degree in Music education, David began teaching elementary age school children in Virginia. After teaching for a year, he discovered that show business was his true calling and more fulfilling for him. He gave up elementary education and pursued a full-time career in entertainment.
