

Carrie Dempsey, 42 from Lutz, Florida died as a result of the cruise ship fire aboard the Tropical Breeze casino shuttle boat near Port Richey, Florida on Sunday, January 14, 2018.
Tampa General Hospital Regional Medical Center spokesman Kurt Conover said Dempsey died late Sunday, shortly after she arrived at the hospital’s emergency room at 10 p.m. He said she had apparently gone home after the fire but became ill.
Mrs. Dempsey came to the Tampa Bay, Florida area in 1985 from her native Cleveland, Ohio.
Carrie will be remembered for her sense of humor, quick wit, and infectious laugh; but mostly as a devoted and loving mother to 12-year-old twins Megan and Chad Dempsey. Carrie Dempsey was raising her children alone after tragedy struck the family years earlier. When the twins were just 5-years-old, they lost their father.
She also survived by her parents Jules and Renee Deutsch. A wrongful death lawsuit is in progress.
