Elizabeth Betsy Haynes, 81, from Jackson, Ohio is a notable cruise industry death,  better  known to crew and staff as the The American Queen Godmother, she died on Tuesday, January 16, 2018.

The American Queen Steamboat Company stern paddle wheeler  river cruise ship American Queen was built in 1995 and is the largest river steamboat ever built.  American Queen is 418 feet long and 89 feet wide and has 222 state rooms for a capacity of 436 guests with a crew of 160.

Haynes love of travel included regular trips on her favorite cruise ship, The American Queen. Whenever The American Queen would dock in Marietta, Ohio Betsy was sure to be there to greet its arrival and board the cruise ship to see her many friends among the ship’s crew and entertainers.

A consummate mother and homemaker, Betsy was an excellent baker and enjoyed preparing her famous sweet treats for her family, friends, and neighbors.

Haynes was a member of St. Peter & St. Paul Church.
