Simon Bodie Royal Princess Passenger Alaska Floatplane Death  –  Simon Bodie, 56,  from Tempe, New South Wales, Australia,  was a Princess Cruises passenger aboard cruise ship Royal Princess who took a floatplane excursion which crashed near Ketchikan, Alaska on Monday, May 13, 2019.

Bodie was originally reported as missing, but his death was confirmed by the U.S. Coast Guard on Wednesday morning.

A statement from his family reported by the Nine Network said he had been married for 31 years to Stephanie, who was also on the cruise, and had two children, with his daughter recently engaged.

The family statement said Bodie was adventurous, loved sailing, was a pilot himself and was very safety conscious.

Mr Bodie was a long time member of the NSW Birmingham Small Arms (BSA) club.  Club president, Victor Terry, said that he’d last heard from Mr Bodie just two weeks ago telling him he was disappointed to be missing out on a two day ride planned for club members, because he would be in Alaska.
