Bendie Antonio was married with two children and had studied at the University of the Philippines Baguio.

Bendie Antonio was taken off the cruise ship Costa Fascinosa and transferred to a hospital in Santos, Brazil, together with nine of his fellow crew members who tested positive for the virus.

The ship Doctor, Paolo Mudano, age 69, from Genoa, Italy died on April 15, in a hospital in Santos, Brazil. He was the first cruise ship frontline healthcare worker to die after testing positive for COVID-19
