John Robert Perricone, 29, from Romeoville, Illinois died suddenly on Thursday, February 20, 2014 while sailing aboard Carnival Cruise Lines' Carnival Elation near Cozumel, Mexico.

Mr. Perricone became ill while on the cruise Wednesday Feburary 19 and passed away aboard the cruise ship the next day.

Carnival Elation left New Orleans, Louisiana on February 17 for a 4-night cruise to Mexico. Carnival Elation called at Progresso, Mexico on February 19, then sailed to Cozumel where the ship docked on Feburary 20. The ship returned to New Orleans on Saturday February 22, 2014.

An autopsy report from the medical examiner in New Orleans is pending.

John Perricone left behind a wife and four small children.
